Poultry waste, a new source of renewable energy
According to a recent study, poultry waste is used in the near future as fuel for the production of heat and electricity.
Processed turkeys, chicks and other poultry in the field of power generation can replace nearly 10% of coal fuel and, as a result, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and serve as an alternative source of energy.
Researchers have acknowledged that the safe placement of poultry manure in the environment has become a big problem, but the conversion of poultry waste to solid fuel can be an answer to this issue.
Researchers have evaluated two types of biofuels and found that the most effective solid fuel is derived from poultry waste. They examined the production, fuel and the amount of gas discharged. Uncontrolled, through slow heating, biomass is produced at 450 ° C in a furnace containing hydrogen and oxygen free.
Hydrogenic coal is produced by heating to wet biomass; this heat is at a temperature well below 250 ° C, under a pressure such as hydrothermal carbonization or hydrothermal coal (briefly HTC). The hydrothermal carbonation process simulates the process of forming natural charcoal for several hours.
The researchers found that treated poultry, such as Hydrochar, produced 24% more raw energy. Hydrochar, which is produced from poultry waste, produces heat at high temperatures and can be used in the same way as charcoal. This is an important factor in considering it as a renewable energy source.
The researchers also showed for the first time that higher temperatures in hydrochloric production cause a significant reduction in methane and ammonia emissions and increase carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide levels.
Researchers' findings can help dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with power generation and agricultural waste.
